The meeting was very well attended and it was good to renew our past association with Francesco, who updated us on the latest research of his department into prostate cancer and how this work integrates with other national and international research efforts.

The visit included a tour of the labs which was very interesting.

Let’s talk about surgery

Monday 13th May 2024 at 7:30pm

Malcolm Carpenter led a discussion about our collective experience of surgery as a treatment option for prostate cancer in the light of his own experiences. Following routine tests a slightly higher than average PSA in early 2022 initiated investigations by MKUH. Early stage prostate cancer was initially assessed and following various scans early Stage 2 was diagnosed in the summer. Following discussions with the oncology team it was decided surgery was the preferred next steps. Radical prostatectomy was undertaken in October 2022.
