Al's Pals Cancer support

Suzanne Brown gave us a presentation on How Al's Pals supports cancer patients, their families and support groups both in the hospital and in their homes

This event was very well attended, indicating that attendances are recovering following the pandemic.

Quiz Night in support of MKPCS

Monday 25th July 2022 

Venue: Abbey Hill Golf Club

Thirty-three contestants took part in this sociable and very enjoyable evening, which included a cold buffet. A large number of raffle tickets were sold, and together with ticket sales for the quiz, this resulted in a gratifying boost to the group's finances.

Stony Radio Garden Party

Saturday 6th August 2022 

Venue: York House Stony Stratford

Lorraine, David T and David B organised an information stall at this garden party. Stony Radio generously nominated MKPCS as the sole charity to benefit from the event and the evening concert that followed it.

Meeting with Sally Burnie, Head of Cancer Services and Head Nurse at the Cancer Centre, MKUH

Monday 22nd August 2022 

Sam, David W and David B met Sally to discuss how we could best cooperate with each other. This proved to be an extremely productive meeting.

The Work of the Wellbeing Team at MK University Hospital

Monday 26th September 2022 at 7:30pm

Samantha Timmins, Macmillan Wellbeing Nurse and Neuro-Oncology Support Nurse conducted an informal discussion on the work of the Wellbeing Team in relation to cancer patients. Fifteen people attended and Samantha's presentation led to a lively discussion.

MK DONS FAMILY FUN DAY

Saturday 15th October 2022 

The committee ran a stall at this event at the Marshall Arena. This was very well attended and led to a great interaction with interested attendees. In addition, we hired a mascot outfit and won a race of mascots at half time in the main stadium's football pitch.

Sally Burnie, Head of Cancer Services and Professor Hany Eldeeb updated us on progress at the Cancer Centre at MKUH and on the treatment of Prostate Cancer. They were joined by Catherine Woolsey and Linda Miles of the Urology Department.

Monday 31st October 2022 at 7:30pm

42 People attended this event, which was very well received.  A lively discussion resulted from the presentations. This continued over the refreshment break where the Professor, Sally, Linda and Catherine were kept busy with queries and comments.

PSA TEST  

20th November at the Windmill Hill Golf Club.

This event was kindly sponsored by Plumbing & Gas Solutions.

226 tests were completed. Subsequently, 4 amber and 7 red warning letters were sent.

We were pleased to welcome Mick and Mandy Legg, Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress, who called in to support the event.
